Hiatus Rules Mini Post
A hiatus is defined as:
1.a break or interruption in the continuity of a work, series, action, etc.
2.a missing part; gap or lacuna: Scholars attempted to account for the hiatus in the medieval manuscript.
As such, a Hiatus here at PA is for players who need to take a break from posting for whatever reason. They are meant as a break, or a sabbatical. Everyone needs to take one now and then, and we as mods understand this. We've had to take hiatuses ourselves.
Concerning "Semi-Hiatuses"
The mod squad here at Poseidon Academy took a while to discuss how to treat semi hiatuses. It was the general conclusion that a semi-hiatus is not really a hiatus at all. We have allowed them in the past, not seeing any harm in them. However, they cause confusion for some players, and makes activity checking for moderators difficult and therefore, Poseidon Academy does no longer allow semi Hiatuses as of June 24, 2009.
What does this mean? It's pretty simple, and we apologize if people find it draconian. A hiatus is a hiatus. If a player is on hiatus, they do not post comments, log entries, journal entries, thread comments, or participate in the game in general until their hiatus ends, or they pull themselves off of hiatus early.
Maximum Hiatus Length: 1 MONTH
If you need to hiatus for longer than a month, it would be best to simply drop. However we understand there are special circumstances for certain people and certain things life throws at us. If you feel you need longer than a month, speak with a Mod about it. In addition, under the field of "end date" within the Hiatus notice "undetermined" is allowed as a response, however please note that after a month of hiatus the mods will contact the player to discuss their hiatus and their options.
To go on Hiatus, please post the below information on this post. In addition, please announce in the OOC community that you will be going on hiatus.
